Q: Starter and ignition switch

asked by on

Does a defected ignition switch cause problems with the starter and various other problems to a vehicle not properly starting?

My car has 111550 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

Hi there:

The ignition switch is responsible for supplying an electrical signal to the ignition relay, which sends power to the starter relay and activate the starter motor. Once the engine ignites, the starter motor disengages from the flywheel and your Cadillac is started. If the ignition switch is damaged or faulty, it may not be able to complete this essential task.
