Q: Stalling issues

Hey there! My 2004 Pontiac Grand Am has been experiencing something weird. Recently in the past few weeks the RPM sometimes drops low and completely stalls if I get stuck in bad traffic. Before it does stall though it'll make a small, jerking feeling and accelerating can be a little difficult. I took it to my local mechanic to run some diagnostics on it like checking the battery, and running scans to see if any codes come up for the engine but we couldn't get anything. The fuel pump was replaced about a year and a half ago but the spark plugs have never been replaced. He suggested to clean the thermal body as there could be something wrong with that so I bought some cleaner but I'm just worried it could be something much worse. Would you guys maybe have an idea of what it is because I am stumped??
