Q: Serpentine belt came off of 2006 BMW 325i

asked by on March 23, 2016

The serpentine belt in my car came off.

The serpentine belt tensioner and idler pulleys will need to be replaced when replacing the belt. The tensioner will not hold tension on the belt and the pulleys may be worn and allowed the belt to ride off. I recommend having a qualified mechanic, like one from YourMechanic, come and check the problem for you and give you a diagnosis.

My brake pedal is rock hard and extremely hard to press to get the car to stop...what might be wrong with it?

Your supposition is a reasonable one. That is, if there is no mechanical or hydraulic fault with the brake components, then the power assist is probably not working. The booster could be leaking, the internal valving defective, a bad check...
