Q: Planning to buy a Kia Rio 2011, everything works great including transmission, but the fluid is black. Is that a big problem?

asked by on September 19, 2017

I am planning to buy a Kia Rio 2011, Everything is working great and the car is well priced (about 1500 under KBB price). The transmission is working great and shift smoothly. However when having an inspection the fluid is pitch black. Does that mean that I'll have trans problems soon, or if I replace the fluid it should be fine and have a long life? Should I get this car or walk away? With my budget (5k$) I'm starting to find hard to find a car with zero problems. If I do have to rebuild the tranny in the future, how much it will cost? Thank you

My car has 88000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.
