Q: P1516 engine code and reduced engine power message

asked by on

how to repair this issue, problem intermittent?
My car has an automatic transmission.

Hello, and thank you for writing in. The P1516 code you received stands for an issue with the Throttle Actuator Control Module. The throttle body, the actuator module, and the wiring may all need to be inspected. The TAC module is responsible for communicating the position of the throttle pedal to the throttle body, and regulating the throttle according to driver demands. Due to the reduced power warning light, the issue is likely critical, and should be inspected immediately. You may want to try and replace the module, but without some electrical testing, there is no way of knowing if the unit is faulty. For more diagnostic help, contact our service department to schedule an appointment.
