Q: Newcomer to Land Rovers

asked by on March 28, 2017

Hi Peter.

I'm looking at trading my Camaro in for a 2006 Land Rover Sport HSE supercharged, and have never driven land rovers before, and so I'm looking for some experienced insight into the repair cost, maintenance frequency, and what I should be aware of when purchasing used land rovers specifically from secondhand car retailers or dealerships.

Thanks for your time, Elizabeth

My car is making a noise from around the alternator area, but when the serpentine belt is taking off the sound stops. 2003 Ford Mustang
Hi there - good plan for diagnosis, isolate the motion that is causing the symptom! The noise could be an alternator bearing, or the serpentine belt idler or tensioner pulley bearing (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/symptoms-of-a-bad-or-failing-idler-pulley). These make noise that is proportional with engine...
