It should have battery voltage. If you have battery voltage, then check the main power cable to the starter. It is the bigger wire. It should have battery voltage at all times. If you have voltage at both wires, then your starter is bad. If you do not, let me know and we can check the rest of the system.

My name is Caleb. It is a push start, so I cannot put the key in ignition.
Automotive Expert
Hi Caleb, nice to meet you. I said put the ignition to the start position. I didn't say anything about putting a key in the ignition.

Ok so I just press the button without holding the brake? It says 10.8vDo I just need a new battery?
Automotive Expert
Ok 10.8 volts is way too low. You'll need to recharge the battery or replace it.

Interesting. I had this issue where it wouldn't start about a week ago. I left it alone for about 6 or 7 hours, then it started and has run fine since.
Automotive Expert
Yes that is strange. The voltage on the battery is way too low though.

this is probably due to the battery? Even though it's been running fine until this point?
Automotive Expert
Yes. The battery voltage is way too low.

Ive tried to start it about 15 times this morning. It started to crank but now it isn't at all. Would me trying to start it so many times drain the battery?
Automotive Expert
Yes that would drain the battery.

Then do you think there's a possibility of it being something else that caused it not to start and therefore drain the battery?
Automotive Expert
Yes it is possible. That's why I suggested to check the starter first. I would also use a scan tool to check for any trouble codes.

Ok, how do I check the starter exactly?
Automotive Expert
While putting the ignition to the start position, check the small wire on the starter solenoid. It should have battery voltage. If you have battery voltage, then check the main power cable to the starter. It is the bigger wire. It should have battery voltage at all times. If you have voltage at both wires, then your starter is bad. If you do not, let me know and we can check the rest of the system.

Where/what is the starter solenoid?
Automotive Expert
The starter solenoid is part of the starter. What engine does your Jeep have?

It says 2.4L
Automotive Expert
Is it 4wd?

No
Automotive Expert
Ok then it's located on the bottom/side of the engine.

Should it be close to the battery?
Automotive Expert
No it is mounted to the engine.

I can't find itShould I be looking under the hood or under the car itself?
Automotive Expert
Under the vehicle. It's mounted on the bottom/side of the engine.

I can't find anythingNot sure what or where to be lookingDo you have a picture?
Automotive Expert
I don't have a picture. It will have a main power cable and a smaller connector on it.

I dropped the air breather wing nut down the carb on my 1976 gma grain truck and its no longer in the carb it has passed through.
I would have the carburetor removed if you cannot use a magnet to go through the carburetor plates to get it out. Taking off the carburetor will give better access to get in the intake to get the nut. The...

Fault codes should be read out of the ECM on your 2006 Mercury Montego. All connectors on the engine harness and at the ECU need to be checked for condensation and/or water ingress as these will cause drivability problems. I...
Truck still has no power at all
This sounds like some kind of an electrical short somewhere or potentially a faulty alternator (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/alternator-replacement). If there are any check engine lights on I would suggest having the truck diagnosed with a scanning tool which would reveal any fault...
My car is making a grinding noise and smoking
Hi there - This sounds ominous. It's difficult to tell from afar, but one culprit could be a failed alternator bearing, and the smoke is indicative of an electrical short, which is never a good thing. It could also be...
Why are the fans staying on when the car is off to where I have to pull the fuse?
The fans are controlled by a relay as well as a temperature switch and possibly timer(s). The relay may be stuck in the closed position and that would be the first and easiest component to test. If a relay tests...
Car jerks when shifting higher
Hello, This may be a sign of low transmission fluid (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/transmission-fluid-service) or a faulty transmission control solenoid. As you know, automatic transmissions use pressurized hydraulic fluid to change gears. Every time a gear change is required, the car's computer activates...

How long does it take to change rear end on 2003 ford f150
