Q: I put a 4x4 (Jell Type Marine) battery in my sedan. Car starts and runs but loses power and completely stops.

asked by on February 15, 2017

So I put a new 4 x 4/marine battery in my 2005 Mazda 6. Obviously a stupid thing to do. It started but ran really rough and would stall and turn off. I put the original battery back in and everything is tight and secure. We hooked up and ran for 30 minutes. Drove around town, all good. Started this morning (with original proper battery of course) and got down the block, lost power. Had to turn off and start again a few times in order to get back home. Have I done damage to the vehicle? What could it be? Fuses? Alternator? Electrical/computer system? Should I drive more to give it time to "reset"? Thank you so much for any advice. I'm beating myself up over this . . .

Ben

How bad is it for the car if when I accelerate i let it go to higher rpms like 4 or 5?

Engine won't start and it's a fuel related problem because I can spray starting fluid in the throttle body and it starts.
It sounds like you may have an air leak present in your EVAP system. When an air leak is present in the EVAP system, the MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) sensor will not be able to determine the air density, and...
