My girlfriend’s Sonata Hybrid seems to be having battery issues. I have a electric 12v charger, I’m trying to find out if I use deep cycle or sli charging Mechanic's Assistant: Have you tested the battery with a voltmeter? And can you see if it's leaking or not? It doesn’t appear to be leaking, and I’m trying to get it enough juice to get us the autozone so they can test it Mechanic's Assistant: What year is your Sonata Hybrid? 2014 Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Sonata Hybrid yourself? What have you tried so far? No, I’m just trying to get it enough juice to turn over, so that I can hopefully get it to a professional, minus a tow fee Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the Mechanic to know before I connect you? I don’t think so. Just trying to make sure I have this charger on the right setting.

Thanks Tyson. As I said, all I’ve got is this electric charger to work with. Settings for manual, Automatic SLI, and Automatic Deep Cycle. I don’t know enough anything about hybrids, so I want to make sure I have this thing on the right setting

Deep cycle is typically for boats or golf cart batteries. If battery is bad it would not charge though, i'd either jump start it or pull the 12v battery out and go to an autozone have it tested for free. I'd hate fore you to try to charge it for a few hours only to find out it's bad anyway. The hybrid battery itself would not charge of the 12v being charged.

Ok. Anything in particular that needs to be done, or just disconnecting the cables? It’s my girls car, and she seems to have conveniently lost the manual. I don’t want to screw anything up

There is also a bolt and a bumper at base of batter holding it in place. usually a 13mm.

Thanks
