The front passenger air bags are designed to only be active when there is an adult passenger in the front seat. If the seat is unoccupied, or occupied by someone too small to safely sit in the front seat, then the air bags will turn off. When this happens, the PASSENGER AIR BAG control on the center console will illuminate the word OFF. The word ON will light up when the air bag is active.
