Q: 2002 Nissan Pathfinder shuts off when idling

asked by on

When I stop at light the car idle rough and turns off.

My car has 187000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

The symptoms you are explaining sound similar to the case of a clogged or faulted idle air control valve. If this valve clogs or fails in a near-closed position, the engine will be choked upon deceleration when the throttle plate closes and can cause misfires or stalling. Check your service records and make sure your maintenance is up to date. Consider hiring one of our mobile experts for a personal diagnosis.
