Q: front passenger wheel locked up.

asked by on August 31, 2016

I've takin the tire off and the break caliper and its still locked. i put the tire back on and after a day of cranking on the tire i have about a half a tire play now back and forth. but still tough to turn within that play. I'm thinking its the axle? but i don't want to tear into it without fully knowing. what part would i need to replace.

Wheel Bearings Replacement $94.60 - $550.03 Get a Quote

Hey there, thanks for writing in about your 1989 Chevrolet K1500. You say it may be the axle so I guessed you have a 4x4 vehicle. You will need to isolate the axle to see if the wheel bearing in the front hub is seized or something is binding in the differential. Most likely it is from the wheel hub bearing. If you would like to have this checked, a qualified professional from YourMechanic can come to your car’s location to inspect the relevant systems and pinpoint the problem.

Squealing and clicking noise from back part of the car but only when moving forward

Hello, thank you for writing in. The first step is to definitively determine if the noise happens when the vehicle is moving (and it is brake or wheel related), or if the noise happens constantly when the vehicle is running....

Steering-wheel shaking around 45 RPM on a 2001 Tahoe

truck shakes alot at 60 mph & steering wheel has alot of play

Brake lights stay on 2000 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Will these tires fit my 2010 Chevrolet Malibu?

The 265/65 R17 tire is considerably larger than the OEM recommended tire size of 215/55 R17. They might be good for a 4x4 look, but not necessarily practical for a Malibu. Clearance within the vehicle's wheel wells will be too...
