Good Morning ,
It sounds like yo have a bad door switch , sometimes you can lubricate it and it will work , eventually it will need to be replaced

There is a switch either in the door jamb or in the latch itself which turns on the light and lets the car know that the door is open

Yes you can spray it with wd 40 . if that doesn't fix it , they are usually aren't too hard to change
