Q: Ford Explorer making loud noises while driving

asked by on October 19, 2016

When my cousin drives her 04 explore she says it sounds like she's pulling a swing set. What could this be? Also we were looking at the belt and pullies and saw a drop of fluid fall on to the middle bottom pulley. She's got plenty of oil, actually she's way past due for an oil change. The only thing i could think is maybe a seal has gone out but i can't really see where the fluid came from.
My car has an automatic transmission.

Wobble when braking and speeds over 50 MPH
Hi there. This is typically caused by warped rotors (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/why-do-brake-rotors-warp). When the rotors are warped, the steering wheel will shake when applying the brakes. This is a common issue. I usually measure the rotors to see if they are good,...
My car shakes while it idles but says there is an evap system leak?

My car is losing all engine power off and on when driving
Hey there. With a problem like this, it is a great idea to start with the fuel system. The fuel pump (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/fuel-pump-replacement) and filter (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/fuel-filter-replacement) should be checked. These need to be replaced together anyway. Depending on how many miles...
Tahoe keeps stalling, bucking, and I smell gas by the engine.
Hi and thanks for contacting YourMechanic. With having the intake manifold bolts broken, yes you can smell gas, but the vehicle will have a vacuum leak. The O2 sensor is on for the broken bolt due to the vacuum leak....
2009 Buick Lacrosse is setting DTC codes P2125 and P2138.
Hi there. Try performing a snap throttle and see if the wave form changes on the Oscilloscope. If the waves do not change when performing a snap throttle, then the throttle position sensor on the pedal needs replaced. If the...
Tire rotation and oil change
Hi There, Depending on the type of tires (with rotation marks vs without rotation marks), the tires will be rotated (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/rotate-tires) in accordance with manufacturers specifications. Our mechanics are able to do this with the use of a jack and...
Code p0 300 comes out
Hi Edwardo. Thanks for contacting us tonight. The P-0300 OBD-II trouble code (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/p0300-obd-ii-trouble-code-random-multiple-cylinder-misfire-detected-by-jamahl-walker) indicates that there is a misfire in random or multiple cylinders. This could be caused by misfiring fuel injectors, faulty spark plugs, coil packs, or other ignition...
