I have a 2010 Ford F-150 Tuscany 4X4. When I shift into 4X4 a wrench  pops up? Mechanic's Assistant: How old is the [transmission](/topics-transmission-ford/)? Have you noticed any leaking? 2010 no leaking. The oil pan gasket was changed two years ago. Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your F-150 yourself? What have you tried so far? I had the dealer change the fluid and gasket. I was planning to bring it to a shop Monday. Someone told me it may be a fuse. The fuse would be under the hood. Any suggestions? Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the Mechanic to know before I connect you? Thats all I know.

Would it be possible to stop by a parts store to check for codes if you do not have a scan tool?

Hi this is Jimmy. Yes the wrench disappears. I do not know about the parts store option?
Automotive Expert
Yea, if the wrench light comes on or even if it doesn't they can check for codes for you. This is normally a free service.

Ok I will check that out. Autozone or O'Reilly’s, which do you suggest?
Automotive Expert
Both would be the same. AutoZone maybe quicker. Please follow up with the codes you have. I would call in advance to make sure there are no changes due to Covid-19.

What do the codes do?
Automotive Expert
It will tell you what the computer is saying has malfunctioned as well as give a starting point on troubleshooting.

Okay Thanks Keith!
Automotive Expert
My pleasure

Hi Keith I went to O’Reilly’s and Autozone. Used their scan tool and no codes came up. They both suggested to bring it to a shop?
Automotive Expert
Hello, Thanks for following up. I was thinking you had a possible input or output speed sensor issue. But being you do not have any fault codes pending it is not likely. If you don't work on cars some your self I would recommend going to the shop. Reasoning is, with no codes we have to troubleshoot the entire system. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.

Will do Keith. I will also let you know the outcome. Thanks!
Automotive Expert
Thank you.
