Q: Q: Engine cranks but won't start

asked by on

Engine cranks but won't start replaced starter solenoid now when I turn the key the volts on the battery go from 12.5v to 10.5v and same thing when I test from battery to solenoid now and when I test from solenoid to starter it goes from 12.5v to 22v

My car has 377000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

The first thing you need to do is to disconnect and clean battery clamps and posts. Then check engine main ground cable to see if you are losing ground or connection through battery clamps. You are getting big voltage drop to the solenoid.
