Q: drilled hole in fuel breather

asked by on

Hi iv drilled a hole in my fuel tank breather and now my fuel consumption seems to use more is this possible does fuel vapors escape

My car has 245600 miles.
My car has a manual transmission.

Hey there, thanks for writing in about your 2001 Ford Escape. Your fuel tank vapors are escaping and tank fuel will evaporate faster and the engine will not be able to use the vapor during cruise conditions. This may lead to less fuel gas mileage.
