Replaced egr valve now truck bogs down

My husband replaced the egr valve started running horrible at idle it runs greatThe truck is not showing any codes since the valve has been replaced hold on for the Vin

It runs great at idle but in gear driving down the road it will sound like its bogging down

OK got it. Thank you for that information. Based on my experience if the engine is bogging down the most likely possible causes would be either restricted exhaust or low fuel pressure. Some of the possible causes would be the camshaft position sensor, crankshaft position sensor tuneup components or [oxygen sensors](/topics-oxygen-sensor-dodge/).

Can I ask why it would start after the new part was put on?

To answer that question the problem would need to be diagnosed. Then I can give you an exact answer. However my theory would be this. Either you have a faulty new part or it's simply a coincidence that it started happening at the same time

maybe I should try to put the old one back on and see if that fixes it

You could certainly do that. I honestly don't know if that will help but it wouldn't hurt to try. If the problem remains I would recommend that you drive the vehicle or run the engine as long as you can until it's like the cold. The longer you run or drive the vehicle the more likely it is for the computer to flag a code related to this issue.

My truck is stupid So my husband unplugged the egr and caused the check engine light to come on truck ran like it was brand new apparently the truck figured out egr was OK so check engine light went off truck started boggling down againSorry good afternoon!!!

You may want to check the oxygen sensors. Oxygen sensors can do this and that like a code. If you leave the EGR valve plugged in clear the codes and then drive the vehicle long enough eventually should set our related code. Whatever is causing it to run rough will likely fly a code after a few days. If not sooner.

Your best bet would be to call the parts store in your area and give them your vehicle information. From there they can look up the oxygen sensors for you. You're looking for the front oxygen sensors before the converters

OK talked to part store told them what's going on guy said that when the check engine light is on truck reroute away from egr so the tube isn't essentially working but with the check engine light off it routes everything back through the valve.... Does that sound rightSaid the tube might be clogged partially

Yes in some cases the EGR system may be restricted in CASA Raul for an condition when the EGR valve and everything is hooked up. That would explain why it runs rough on the EGR valve is connected
