O have a 2003 dodge intrepid. The hazards and turn signal stay on after the car is off. What could be the problem? Mechanic's Assistant: Have you checked the fuse? Where is the fuse located? Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Intrepid yourself? What have you tried so far? I am trying to fix it myself. I haven't tried anything yet. I'm a single mom, I can't afford a mechanic. Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the Mechanic to know before I connect you? No that's it

Hello and welcome to just answer. My name is \*\*\*\*\* \*\*\*\*\* I will assist you today. I am sorry you are having this problem but hopefully I can help. It is probably just the hazards that are stuck on because the turn signals need to have the key on whereas the hazards do not. Most likely the hazard switch, but let me pull up the wiring diagram and research this a bit and get back to you asap. Chris

Ok thank you
Automotive Expert
You are welcome! Okay, after looking over the wiring diagram I see that fuse # 0 (a 20 amp) in the under hood fuse box/PDC is the fuse for the hazard lights. I am pretty sure the turn signal/hazard switch is the problem. Pull that fuse and see if they stop. BUT before you do that let's see if we can un stick that switch. Repeatedly turn on and off the hazard button on top of the steering column. Do it several times really fast. Let me know if that works. Chris

..

The hazards button is unstuck. The turn signals don't turn on now.
Automotive Expert
Hey that is very good news! Glad I was able to help and thank you again for using just answer! Chris

The turn signals are not working
Automotive Expert
Oh, so with the key on they don't work but the hazards are off?

Okay, based on that information, check fuse # 9 in the inside fuse box. If it is okay, then the turn signal/hazard switch assy will need to be replaced. Chris

Okay, let me see what it will run you to replace it. Be right back Chris Labor to replace it is .8 of an hour, and the part is around $50.00 . So at a labor rate of $150.00 per hour, the labor would be $120.00. So parts and labor would be $170.00 plus tax on the part. Note that the labor rates between shops may vary and that will affect the total repair cost. Chris

What shops?
Automotive Expert
Oh any good reputable shop in your area should be able to replace this with no problem. If you want to buy the part and replace it yourself, let me know and I will send you the procedure to do so. Chris

please send the procedure to replace it my self. Do you want to send it to my email? Would you or do you know someone who can come out and put it in for me?
Automotive Expert
I will send it to this post we have started. I do not know of anyone where you are that can do that, but if you do a Google search for mobile mechanic, you should be able to find someone in your area. Be right back. Chris

I've been looking for a while for a mobile mechanic that works on electrical stuff on my car. No luck so far
Automotive Expert
Okay, here is the procedure. Click on the link below to see the info. It will open up in a Word document. Chris

Thank you so much. I really appreciate it!Could there be a crossed wire some where?
Automotive Expert
You are very welcome! I doubt it is a crossed wire, but good question! I have seen this problem you are having and I am pretty sure it is the switch. Chris

Ok I was just making sure. I used to have a suburban with the same problem only it was a crossed wire.It is so nice to have someone actually talk to me instead of shutting me out.
Automotive Expert
Well it was my pleasure to help you today! Thank you for using just answer and have a great weekend! If you have any follow up questions I will be here for you. Chris

Thank you. Have a good weekend.
