Q: Clutch out in car

asked by on

I think my clutch is out in my car. How can I tell if it is?

The clutch will typically last about 150,000 miles. When the clutch is bad you may have a problem putting the car in gear or when you drive you may feel the clutch slip. A good way to tell if the clutch is about to fail is to drive the car down the road and when you get to third gear leave your foot on the gas a little and engage the clutch and release it. It should not slip at all. If there is slippage then your clutch is bad.
