Thank you Scott. Have you done the relearn procedure?

No

Ok here it is. You are going to want to try this first before replacing anything. This might just do the trick. 1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF. 2. Attempt to start the engine, then release the key to ON; the vehicle will not start. 3. Observe the SECURITY telltale; after approximately 10 minutes the telltale will turn OFF. 4. Turn OFF the ignition, and wait 5 seconds. 5. Repeat steps 1 through 4 two more times for a total of 3 cycles/30 minutes; the vehicle is now ready to relearn the Passlock Sensor Data Code and/or passwords on the next ignition switch transition from OFF to CRANK. Important: The vehicle learns the Passlock Sensor Data Code and/or password \*\*\*\*\* the next ignition switch transition from OFF to CRANK. You must turn the ignition OFF before attempting to start the vehicle. 6. Start the engine. The vehicle has now learned the Passlock Sensor Data Code and/or password.

If the problem remains, the ignition lock cylinder along with the passlock sensor will need to be replaced and the relearn procedure will need to be done once again after installation. It has been a pleasure working with you so far. Keep in mind this is a “starting point”. We can always continue as needed at a later date or at any time. Feel free to run some tests and reply back for further assistance as needed. Glad I can help. Please let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks and have a great day!

Is this why sometimes I have to step on the brake to start the car
Automotive Expert
That should not be related. The brake system and brake pedal will not prevent the engine from starting.

if the battery was dead do I have to do that process while jumper cable are on
Automotive Expert
It is possible. If the engine is not starting in the security light is on then yes I would recommend to do that security relearn procedure

Its been about 10 mins or more and the security light hasn't shut off yet
