Q: Q: Catalytic converter

asked by on

Can you cut the catalytic converter off of a 2006 kia Rio and straight pipe it and it still run
My car has an automatic transmission.

Hi there. Although it is possible that doing this might "work", it’s not recommended for any car, truck or SUV. The catalytic converter is engineered to be installed within the entire exhaust system, with smooth transitions throughout the exhaust pipe system. I wouldn’t recommend this method.
