How do you test (catch ) an intermittent parasitic load on a car battery? Mechanic's Assistant: Okay, I'll connect you to the Mechanic to walk you through that for your car. Before I do, is there anything else you want him to know? Battery is fully charged and is 3 days old. Battery passes the load test . Momentary steady state parasitic load, current drain, reverse leakage is 12.5 ma, yet the battery goes down to 50% overnight.

0125 amp steady state momentary current drain after 3 minutesThe test you suggested has been performed. The results of the test is as listed aboveI think you repeated your preliminary introduction to parasitic load, current drain, reverse leakage which does not answer my question because this is an intermittent current drain

Ok then the battery must be faulty unless it is intermittent. Intermittent is always difficult to track down because you can't test unless the problem is present.

This is a new battery that passes the load test recommended by the SAE society of automotive engineers and BCI Battery council Institute which is 1/2 of the 800CCA load ( 400 amps ) for 15 seconds and the voltage should not drop below 9.6 volts at 70 degrees farenhieght. This test was also repeated ( double checked ) with another new battery. The batteries both tests good

All you can do is keep an amp meter connected to it when it's parked. When you see the draw over .05 then you can start pulling fuses. That's the only way to find the intermittent draw.

I realize it is difficult. Thats why I hired you. A problem does exist and you have not solved it.

I'm sorry I don't understand. What does that mean?

Sir, it is not feesible to charge a customer for 48 hours of labor or more to watch and see when and how much the current drain isYou stated the problem was difficult. I realize it is difficult. Thats why I hired you. A problem does exist and you have not solved it.

You have not hired me to do anything. You must be trying to text someone else.

This is a pay service sir, and you have been contracted , and have accepted to answer by "Just Answer" to oblige here

Oh I see. I thought you were texting your mechanic or something while you were on this site. Yes you will have to leave an amp meter attached to it when it's not running. That's the only way to find the problem. No it may not be feasible but it would be necessary.
