Q: Air conditioning leak

My car may have an air conditioning leak or is low on Freon

Hello. If your AC system is suddenly not blowing cold, then it may indeed be low due to a leak. In some cases, you can take a look at all of the AC system hoses and connections and if any of them are covered with an oily residue, then that can indicate a leak. A mechanic would install refrigerant dye into the system and then run it to allow it to circulate. At that time they would use a special light and glasses which would show the leaks. At that time, the leak can be repaired and the system properly evacuated and refilled. It is important that this be done by a certified mechanic, like one from YourMechanic, because this system is pressurized and needs to be at the correct PSI to function correctly .
