Q: 2005 Scion TC, 108,00 miles. My car didn't start so I had to jumpstart it. I let it idle to charge the battery and it just died.

I have a 2005 Scion TC with about 108,000 miles on it. My car didn't start so I though it was the battery. I had someone come jump start it. I drove to work about 8 miles away, let the car idle for a bit to charge the battery when it totally died. It doesn't make a clicking noise or anything. What could it be?

My car has 108000 miles.
My car has a manual transmission.

Car starts but won't run.
If your engine starts but won't stay running (idling) the problem is most likely a faulty idle air control (IAC) motor. (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/idle-control-valve-replacement) The IAC opens and closes to maintain engine idle, if this component goes out, the engine will keep stalling....
My car has the OBD-II codes P0030 and P0135 for the heater control circuit and sensor. Where is this sensor located?
This is a code that pertains to the heater side of your oxygen sensor (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/oxygen-sensor-replacement). The heater is required to raise the temperature of the sensor so that it can operate properly. Simply unplugging relays/fuses will not keep the code...

Hi there. The noise could be the brakes indicator rubbing on the rotors on the front of your vehicle. This is the reminder to have the brakes (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/squealing-noise-from-brakes-inspection) replaced. If the brakes are new or have lots of friction material...

Hi - most likely the overdrive sprag (a one-way clutch) (https://www.yourmechanic.com/question/transmission-not-changing-gears-by-daniel) in the transmission is slipping, and must be replaced. It must work properly for any forward gear to work. I would recommend a transmission inspection (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/gears-slipping-when-accelerating-inspection) by a mobile,...
