How to Prepare for the Tennessee Driver’s Written Test

As excited as you might be to get out and start driving, you have to take and pass the Tennessee driver’s written test first so you can get your permit and then take the road test. Many people become concerned at the thought of a written test, and this can lead to them doing poorly on it. The questions that are on the test aren’t difficult, but if you do not spend any time studying and preparing for the exam, you will have trouble. Fortunately, if you follow the simple guidelines here for preparing for your exam, you should pass with flying colors. Let’s look at what you need to do in order to get ready.

The driver’s manual

You always need to make sure you have a copy of the Tennessee Comprehensive Driver License Manual. The manual covers everything you need to know about the Tennessee roads as a driver. You will learn the road signs, the parking and traffic laws, and how to keep safe while on the road. All of the questions that they put on the written test come right from the information found in the manual, so it is highly important that you get a copy and that you study it.

The manual is available as a PDF, so you can download it to your computer to read whenever you would like. You might also want to put the PDF on your e-reader, or a tablet or smartphone. This way, you can take it with you and study even when you aren’t near the computer.

Online tests

The manual is a huge factor in passing the test, but just reading it is not enough. You also need to test your knowledge to make sure that you actually are learning the rules of the road. Fortunately, there are a number of sites that offer online practice tests that you can try. DMV Written Test has several tests for you to try. The tests have 30 questions, and you need to get at least 24 of them correct if you want to pass.

A good practice is to read and study the manual first and then take one of the practice tests to see how you do. Study the areas where you had incorrect questions and then take another practice test. This will help you improve your knowledge overall, and you will find that taking and passing the test is much easier.

Get an app

You can have your smartphone and tablet do more than just hold the PDF as well. You could also download apps for the phone. They are available for both Android and iPhone, and they have practice questions and information that will help you in your preparation. Two options you may want to consider include Drivers Ed app and DMV Permit Test.

A final tip

You should relax for the test, and you should take your time with all of the questions. If you’ve studied and prepared, you will not have any trouble passing the test so you can get your permit.
