How to Prepare for the Michigan Driver’s Written Test

When you are getting ready to get your license, it can be a very exciting time. You can’t wait to get on the road. However, you need to make sure you can actually pass your Michigan driver’s written test before you get too excited. The state requires that you pass this test so you can get your learner’s permit. They want to make sure you know and understand the rules of the road. The written test is not overly difficult, but if you do not study and prepare properly, there is a chance that you could fail the exam. You do not want that to happen, so you need to prepare for the exam with the tips that follow.

The driver’s manual

You need to have a copy of the Michigan Driver’s Manual, titled “What Every Driver Must Know”. This manual contains all of the rules of the road including parking and traffic laws, road signs, and safety. All of the questions that are on the test will come directly from this book, so it is important that you read it and study it. Fortunately, you are able to get a PDF copy of the manual now, so you can simply download it to your computer. You can also download it to your tablet, smartphone, or e-reader if you would like. This will allow you to have the information on a portable device so you can study it whenever you have some extra time.

Online tests

In addition to reading and studying the manual, you should start taking online practice tests. These practice tests will include the same questions that you will find on the driver’s written tests. One of the sites you can visit for some practice exams is DMV Written Test. They have several tests that you can take that will help you prepare for your real written exam. The test has 50 questions, and you will need to get at least 40 of these questions correct in order to pass.

It is a good idea to study the manual first, then take a practice test to see how you do. Go over the questions that you got wrong and see where you made your mistakes. Then study again and take another practice test. This will help you improve your knowledge, and your confidence will grow once you start to pass the practice tests.

Get an app

You can also download apps to your phone or tablet that can help you prepare for the test. The apps are available for Android and iPhone, and they can give you some added practice to make passing the test easier. Two of the options you may want to consider include Drivers Ed app and DMV Permit Test.

A final tip

When the day comes for your exam, do your best to relax. Make sure you take your time with the test as well. Read the questions and answers carefully, and the correct answer should be obvious to you. Best of luck with your test!
