Hello - the mass airflow (MAF) sensor is the black plastic cylindrical tube with an electrical harness that goes into the air filter housing on your engine air intake system. I would check for problem codes first however, as the behavior you describe could well be the throttle position switch, or idle air control valve - rather than the MAF. I would recommend an engine inspection by a mobile, professional mechanic, such as one from YourMechanic, who will come to your location, diagnose this problem, give you an accurate assessment of damage and cost estimate for repairs.

Car lost power and a cylinder.

The check engine light came on as a warning your vehicle is in need of service. The most likely cause is the engine is misfiring from an ignition coil failure or the plug wires got oil on them. I recommend...

Massive hesitation between 1-2 shifting and nearly dies occassionally at stop.

Hi there. It seems that the EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) Valve is stuck and not allowing the engine to run good causing the engine to hesitate, especially when shifting. Take the EGR off and clean it. Then put it back...

My car has several misfire codes and does not run properly.

Hi there. What prompted you to replace those particular parts? Did testing reveal a fault? This year model, along with its sister IS models, up to 2011 had a service campaign for cylinder misfires. The campaign did not cover the...

What is a throttle body filter

Code P0068 can have to do with the Throttle Position Sensor. It can also be due to a Mass Air Flow sensor fault. Usually this code can be set due to a vacuum leak, either somewhere in the air intake...

reduce speed message

Hello, thank you for writing in. The vehicle will illuminate the reduced engine power warning light for many reasons. The throttle, a number of sensors, poor ignition, and many other factors can turn it on. If you have not driven...

Vehicle shuts off intermittently at idle

The P0113 code relates to a problem with the intake air temperature (IAT) sensor. The computer is seeing a reading that is outside of its normal parameters and is causing the computer to set the code. This could also be...

Engine light is on and car shakes

This may be related to a faulty throttle position sensor or potentially a dirty or failing mass air flow sensor. The mass air flow sensor is a unit in the intake system that monitors air intake as it is mixed...
