Q: when i press the gas why does it move slow and not catch speed

asked by on

my car doesnt wanna go into gear or it doesnt wanna catch speed so im trying to figure out what could it be

My car has 167351 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

A few different problems can cause the vehicle to be unable to get into gear or gain speed. The most common would be:

  • shifter linkage
  • torque converter
  • transmission failure
  • fuel pump
  • driveline fault

A qualified technician such as one from YourMechanic will be able to diagnose this fault and preform any repairs required.
