Hi name is\*\*\*\*\* am a Master VW Tech with over 16 years of experience. I am sorry to hear you are having a issue with your VW. Do you have your VIN handy so I can look up the most accurate information for your car?

Hi, thanks for the respond and the vin number is \*\*\*\*\*
Automotive Expert
Thank you Give me a few minutes to access the repair manual.

Ok tnx
Automotive Expert
Just to verify can you give me the fault code that your code reader found. It should start with a P. Sometimes the generic code from the reader has a different description than VW uses. Your car does not use exhaust temp sensors it uses Oxygen sensors.

P0435What is it then i checked online it says catalyst temp sensor bank 2 circuite 1, but u know bettweBetter
Automotive Expert
It is probably going to be related to the Oxygen sensors I am just looking at the repair manual to verify. Some of the online definitions use generic terms that do not apply to the way VW systems work. Just bear with me for a few more minutes while I verify.

Ok tnx i really appreciate it
Automotive Expert
For your engine the the Oxygen sensors compare the the data from each sensor to monitor the efficiency of the catalytic converter. This fault would that you have would be related to the oxygen sensor that is located under the car in front of the catalytic converter. With these sensors you will need a scan tool to delete the learned values of the old ones that would require a VW specific scan tool.

it means even if i change the oxygen sensor still i need to delete the data through the tools ?
Automotive Expert
Yes that is correct. It is a function of the newer software used in the ECM

Ok tnx

You’re welcome

Hi, i have one question
Automotive Expert
Hello, what can I help you with?

Sorry to disturb u at this time, u told me to change the oxygen sensor when u checked the code P0435 all i want to know when i called the auto parts they told me the sensor which is before CAT is bank 1 sensor 1 but online when i checked it says bank 2 circuit 1, so i wanna know which one should i buy i am not sure
Automotive Expert
There are three on your car. Bank one sensor one is right near the exhaust manifold. The one you need is right before the catalytic converter. If the have picture that is the one you need

Ok so bank 1 sensor 1 is needed
Automotive Expert
No sorry for the confusion. It is not called bank 1 sensor 1. Ask them for the other one that is before the cat. It is not called sensor 2 either.

OkTnxTnx for ur help once again

My car is not turning on i even changed the battery now and bought a new one the electric is there the lights come up but the engine is not turning on, could it be because of the o2 sensor that i need ? Sorry to bother u again
Automotive Expert
It’s no problem. The O2 sensor won’t cause the car to not start. It’s hard to guess what could cause this issue. Are there any other faults stored?

No one other fault is that i can see in the dash is the traction control lightThats it
Automotive Expert
Does the dash say it is in neutral?

Let me take a picture n send it to u
Automotive Expert
Sounds good.
