Q: Trying to change odometer to kilometers 2005 ford escape

asked by on February 22, 2018

I am trying to change my odometer reading 2 kilometers I do not see any way to do that I've searched the internet it says I should be able to but I can't

My car has 150000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

That sounds like a job for the scan tool. It would have to be the factory tool, a generic scanner like the ones they use at the auto parts stores won’t do the trick. In many cars the miles/KM setting is done as part of the dealer prep via the dealer’s diagnostic computer.

Nissan primera p11 won't rev pass 2500 rpm
Hi there. The car sounds like it has gone into limp mode for some reason. I would double check to be sure the MAF (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/mass-airflow-sensor-replacement) is working properly as this will cause this type of reaction as well. Check to...
Ignition coil
Hi, thanks for writing in. Your engine has six coils, one per cylinder. The connector should be squeezed then pull off the coil. Hope this helps and best of luck.
Oil pressure light comes on in the morning when the car is cold, but goes off if I turn the car off then back on.
Hello, thank you for writing in. The sensor, or oil pressure switch, can be tested. If the sensor appears to be within the factory spec, the first thing to check is if you have the right viscosity oil. If the...
Check engine light came on. Had it checked and it was a right wheel speed sensor. Showed code error. Is this a serious problem?
Hi, thanks for writing in. With a failed wheel speed sensor (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/symptoms-of-a-bad-or-failing-wheel-speed-sensor), your anti-lock brakes, traction control and/or stability control systems will not function properly. These systems rely on wheel speed sensors to determine when and if braking needs to...
Tachometer only goes up.
Hello and thanks for contacting YourMechanic. It seems that your tachometer (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/3-essential-things-to-know-about-your-car-s-tachometer) is loosing voltage in the rheostat (the part that makes the meter work). The tachometer gets its signal from the computer or the ignition coil pack ground circuit....
Transmission warning
Hello. It sounds like you either have a bad connection at the battery or the issue is with the transmission position sensor. If the sensor fails then the computer will not allow the vehicle to start. The car is only...
what are the signs that i an engine mount is breaking?
The most noticeable sign of a failing motor mount is a very strong vibration that may increase a bit as the engine speed increases. As you may know, the motor mounts (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/engine-mount-replacement) support the motor inside the car's chassis and...
I have a high pitch whine off and on but stops when I accelerate. What is that? How much to fix?
The power steering pump can certainly be a source of noise, as can a number of other components. Bearings can sometimes make a high pitched noise when they are worn. The alternator, air conditioner compressor, belt tensioner, and water pump...
2006 cadillac cts does it have struts or shocks
Hi there. The 2006 Cadillac CTS has a front shock / strut assembly as opposed to the singular strut with coil over spring option that is common with passenger cars and some smaller SUV’s. I would recommend having this service...
