The light is on the dash when the car is on but when you just turn the key it says the side airbag is off and someone is sitting in it

My car has 194000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

Most vehicles have a sensor in the passenger seat bottom to signal the air bag computer that someone is sitting in the seat and will sense if the passenger is under or over a certain weight to disable or enable the airbags on that side. If the sensor is bad or you set something on seat like books the system will disable the airbags on the passenger side. Have a mechanic like one from YourMechanic check the seat switch for operation.

Is the lower ball joint on the driver's side fixed as one part with suspension arm or detachable?
Hello. The ball joint (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/ball-joint-front-replacement) is available separately, and as part of the control arm assembly (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/control-arm-assembly-replacement) as you note. Although it can be purchased separately, removing it and replacing it into the control arm requires heavy duty presses and...

My car idles up and down after it warms up--rpms jumping up and down about every second between, about, 1600 and 1900.
This may indicate a faulty fuel pressure regulator (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/fuel-pressure-regulator-replacement) or dirty fuel injectors causing a fluctuation in the fuel supplied to the motor and thereby causing the RPM's to fluctuate. As you know, when you turn the key to on,...

Loose gearbox that won't find 2nd or 5th gear, sometimes hard to differentiate between 1st and 3rd.

04 Buick Le Sabre. Couple days ago the word volt popped up on the dash.
Yes, it could be a problem with the ignition module, but I'm still concerned about your "Volt" warning. Before you replace any expensive electronic parts, you need to do a check of the charging system. If there is a problem...
