Q: Rear end clunk

asked by on February 12, 2017

Hello! When I first leave in the morning a back out of my driveway. When I hit the bump between the driveway and the street I hear a loud clunk noise coming from the rear. Also, I hear it when I hit potholes, etc. When driving on normal roads there is no noise. Also, sometimes when I'm braking on a curve the rear of the car seems to "shift" like something is loose. I've had two mechanics look at it.

The first thought is was my shocks and we replaced them...no change. The second thought is was the rear brakes...no change. Both mechanics looked over the rear suspension and didn't find any issues with the sway bar (this was my guess), springs, or linkages. Can you help?!

(Older models of this car have had rear suspension issues (faulty spring boots, bad sway bar, etc) but I can't find anyone online that can find this fix.)

My car has 60000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.
