Q: PASS AIRBAG OFF light

asked by on May 07, 2017

Should the PASS AIRBAG OFF light stay on for the whole trip when I drive solo?

My car has 10000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

If the seat is unoccupied, the light will stay "on" continuously. There are other circumstances under which the light may stay on though, including low weight on the seat, the seat belt is buckled but there is no seat occupant (only certain models) and system malfunctions with the passenger side airbag. If you have further questions or concerns, do not hesitate to re-contact YourMechanic as we are always here to help you.

Battery keeps dying
Hello! It is a high possibility that it keeps dying because the battery is not holding a charge (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/battery-will-not-hold-a-charge-inspection) or the battery is not receiving a charge. Loose Steering? 2012 GMC Sierra 1500
Hey there. I would suggest having the inner and outer tie rods (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/tie-rod-end-replacement) checked for looseness and replaced if any play is found. When checking the rack and pinion mounts and bushings there should also be no looseness. The steering's...

Metal shavings on variable timing solenoid
Hi there. Finding metal shavings on the tip of your VVT solenoid (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/symptoms-of-a-bad-or-failing-variable-valve-timing-vvt-solenoid) is indeed not a good thing. The reason why it's not a good indicator is that the VVT solenoid is usually attached next to the cam shaft....

Extreem power loss. 2000 Ford Explorer
Hello - check for other problem codes as well. In addition to the P1451 (?) (purge cannister valve failure (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/symptoms-of-a-bad-or-failing-canister-purge-solenoid)), I suspect you have a failing throttle position sensor (https://www.yourmechanic.com/question/car-hesitation-when-taking-off-at-a-light-by-gloria-l) which is limiting engine performance. I recommend a power loss...
