Hello Natasha, Nice to meet you! I am sorry to hear about this noise you are getting. I will do my best to help you with this

Nice to meet you too. I'm driving as I do this so forgive me if there's pausesI don't know if you write the information I put on the Internet but I just noticed the rattling sound 20 minutes ago as I was driving the car on the freeway. I didn't run over anything my tire pressure is fine there's no lights showing on the instrument panel it's just a really loud rattling and the front passenger side of the vehicle. I checked to see if there is anything loose or anything like that I couldn't see anything

So the most common thing that can cause rattling noise while driving. ( Vehicle Moving ) Lower engine covers, or inside Fender Liners. These parts are plastic and secured by plastic clips. If you catch a Parking Block or a snow bank. It can break the plastic clips and these parts could flap and make noise as you driving So I would certainly take a peak under the car to see if this is what you are hearing.

This doesn't sound like it something very serious

I have seen exhaust heat shields rattle as well. But if it sounds that bad, then I would strongly suggest to have this visually checked for you to determine what is causing this noise.

Is it something that I can wait a little while 4 do you think? I ask because there's nowhere there's gonna be available on New Year's Eve and I use the car every day because I drive full time for grubhub so I don't really have a whole lot of time to have the car down-and-outAs I said this just started less than an hour ago so its not like its ongoing problem at this point

I can't say for sure if I am unable to hear this noise or inspect the car. Noises are best diagnosed in person

But now I noticing that the rattling is stopping when I drive but sounds loud when I'm parked or stopped at a stoplight
Automotive Expert
is this noise a roaring noise?

Not really. The best way I can describe it would be Sounding like when heavy rain or hail hits the roof top of the car
Automotive Expert
Does it sound like it is in the front or the rear?

In the front mostly on the passenger side
Automotive Expert
if you tap on your exhaust tip, and shake it can you make it make the noise? I have seen exhaust hangers break and the exhaust is simply banging around against the body Did you look around that passenger front area to see if anything looks out of place?

I did. Nothing seems out of place
Automotive Expert
Then I am afraid if you don't see any thing and you only hear it when moving, there is just so many things it could be, that it would really require it to be visually checked

Definitely sounds like its under the hood though

Some noises are best to diagnose in person so it can be heard. If I can't hear it. I can't tell you what it may be.

Can I call you?
Automotive Expert
We could do a phone call if you accept the Premium Service Request. But I can't guarantee that hearing this noise over the phone, I would be able to pin point it. But it's very possible I could as well. It's up to you if you would like to pay extra for the call

How much is that?
Automotive Expert
$26.00

Gonna need to wait on that. A car needs an oil change anyway so I will get that scheduled and hopefully they can take a look at whatever is causing the sound at the same time

You certainly want to keep your car maintained.

Still not sure what you need?

Have a certified mobile mechanic diagnose what's wrong with your car, at your home or office.
