Ok
First, leave the key fob in the house and check and see if the [steering wheel](/topics-steering-wheel-nissan/) is locked, if it isn't then you have an issue with the steering lock control module.
If it's locked as it should be, then I would double-check the new brake light switch. If it's out of adjustment it won't work, it's also possible it's bad out of the box, especially if it's aftermarket and not a part from the dealer.
Please try these and let me know what happens.
Thank you.

Is the switch from the dealership or a parts store?
Customer

Part store but this is the second one that I have brought . I had the same issue a few months ago and brought a new switch . So that switch was barely used . Brought a brand new one yesterday and still no luck

Ok, I need a moment to pull up the wiring diagram, we are going to need a test light to check and make sure the switch is working as it should.
One moment.

Ok, I would like you to check the fuse. Fuse #7 in the fuse box inside the car and make sure it's not blown.
Here is a diagram of the fuse box, I highlighted #7 for you.
Let me know.

I brought new fuses as well . The fuse under the steering wheel on the left side under it were changed as well

Ok, then you need to get a test light and check the power to the brake light switch. If the fuse is good and there isn't any power to the switch, then the wire is broken, if there is power going into the switch, you will have to make sure there is power coming out when the pedal is pressed. If not, the switch is no good.

where do I get a test light from ?

Automotive Expert
Yes, if the wire is bad, typically you will find the break in the wire or replace the wire.
You can get a 12 volt automotive test light at any parts store. If you don't know how to use it, watch some videos on youtube to see how to use it and let me know when you are ready.
It's easier then me trying to type out everything you need to use it.

I place it on my brakes ?

No, you have to test the wiring at the brake light switch under the dash.

Could it be my belt ?
Mike V.
Automotive Expert
No, the belt has nothing to do with this. Have you tried putting the key fob on the slot to the left of the steering column? The whole fob not just the hidden key. I don't think it's going to help because the brake lights aren't working which really points to an issue with the switch or the wiring to the switch.

I have tried that

Ok, it's boiled down to checking the brake switch and wiring. Once you have that done, please let me know the results.
