Q: Ignition Coil Issues

asked by on September 05, 2017

As I was driving down the highway, my car began to buck while my check engine light was flashing. After i pulled the car over and shut it off, I turned it back on. The check engine light remained on but i could drive the car normal. I went to an Autozone to get the code ran. The code came back and said "cylinder 2 misfiring, replace ignition coil." The first thing I did was i replaced all four spark plugs. This initially solved my problem, as the light went away and the car ran fine. Then, a few days later, I had the same issue again; car jerking, light flashing, etc. However, one time I did turn my car on and the light went away. Last Wednesday, I bought the ignition coil. I replaced the second ignition coil, and the light went away. Last Friday as I was driving to work, it did the exact same thing- bucking, check engine light flashing, even with new spark plugs and a new ignition coil. I went to autozone and the code said exact same thing: cylinder 2 misfire, replace ignition coil.

My car has 102000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.
