Q: How much is a shift linkage replacement

asked by on August 02, 2017

This guy is selling a car for 550. The only problem is the shift linkage pin has to be replaced or it can't be driven. I wanna know how much is this gonna cost if I take it to a mechanic
My car has an automatic transmission.

Hi there. It really depends on whether the pin itself is damaged or if the shift linkage or shift cable is damaged. If it’s a minor repair, budget $200 to $350 for most local shops. If it’s replacing the shift linkage and cables, it might be closer to $500 in most cases.
