How do I remove the tailgate?

Removing the tailgate can give you more storage space in the bed of your truck. Here’s how to remove the tailgate.

  1. Lower the tailgate.

  2. Remove and disconnect the rear camera and wiring harness.

  3. Remove the tailgate support cables. To do this, release the lock from the pivot of the cables.

  4. Tilt the tailgate upwards until it is angled at approximately 45 degrees.

  5. Lift up the right side of the tailgate until the right-side pivot is clear.

  6. Slide the tailgate to the right side, which will release the left side.

  7. Carefully remove the tailgate.
