I just got my truck back and he mentioned something about the starter relay but that he wasn’t going to fix it because it wasn’t giving issues because instead of my truck turning on by one turn if the key it took two. My truck was running fine but now it won’t start and there’s a clicking noise. I have brand new [battery](/topics-battery-dodge/)’s and a brand new starter in and he said my [alternator](/topics-alternator-dodge/) was fine. Mechanic's Assistant: Can you turn the steering wheel at all? And what about the key? Is it worn or damaged? Yeah I can and I don’t think so it doesn’t look damaged Mechanic's Assistant: What year is your Relay? Tbh I don’t know I just bought this truck in October. It’s a 1999 dodge 2500 Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Relay yourself? What have you tried so far? I tried jump starting it yesterday and it was running fine. But then when I tried turning it on today it wouldn’t start again. Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the Mechanic to know before I connect you? Nope thank you

Thanks for using JustAnswer.com! My name is \*\*\*\*\* \*\*\*\*\* I'll try to answer your car questions. The site may offer a premium service/phone call, but it's an alternative option to text/email, and will cost extra. We can continue via text for as long as it takes to resolve the issue. Just lemme know what I can do to help! - Im sorry to hear about any issue with the truck, but would be glad to try and help! Starter relay is located in the under hood fuse box for trucks with diesel engine. Attaching location chart showing the position of the relay in the fuse box, may need to be on PC platform to view. - Lemme know which engine is installed in the truck if issue still present after swapping out the relay, will look up the wiring diagrams and we can check ignition switch and neutral safety switch input, as well as the wiring to fuse box and the starter. Try wiggling wiring to fuse box, starter and ignition switch. Have seen loose connection issues and fuse box problems in the past. - Lemme know what youre seeing or if any questions come up while checking it out!

Would it be the starter relay would that make my truck not start?

It could be, or there could be an issue with the wiring to the relay, or even the power supply. Which engine do you have in the truck, and is it automatic or manual tranmssion? Would double check the battery voltage level and make sure youre seeing around 12.6 volts, then check power getting to the starter itself. Could have a bad solenoid. Lemme know what youre seeing, or if any questions come up while checking it out!

5.9l and it's automatic. Okay

Roger that, attaching wiring diagrams for the starter system to the message, may need to be on PC platform to view. Lemme know what ya find out!

Differential failure is a likely cause of this symptom. A faulty CV axle or transmission failure are also likely causes. I would recommend having your transmission and differential inspected by a professional to ensure all parts are working correctly.
