Hello I have a 2004 Dodge [Ram 1500](/topics-ram-1500/) 5.7L I’m getting the p2320 code I have replaced wires plugs and the coil pack for number 7 but still getting the code after I reset the light it comes on a day or so after Mechanic's Assistant: Have you seen this code before? Have you tried a hard reset? I have not done a hard reset but I used a code reader to reset the code Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Ram 1500 yourself? What have you tried so far? Yes I have replaced the wires and boots, plugs and also replaced the coil pack for #7 Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the Mechanic to know before I connect you? Not at this time

Hello - my name is \*\*\*\*\* \*\*\*\*\* there is an open or short in the harness, or the #7 coil driver is failed in the PCM - the code is for coil #7 not firing long enough - if the original coil you replaced caused the failure, it probably shorted the primary coil driver in the PCM - the harness has to be checked first for any opens or shorts before condemning the PCM - especially if it is an intermittent failure

If it’s the driver in the pcm that means I will have to replace the pcm or will it run just fine the way it is? Because I don’t nothing any miss firing or anything just the dash light is on?

You can drive it - the coil is firing, it just isn't firing long enough for PCM parameter - it just won't be as efficient - you really don't have to worry about it unless you start getting p03-- misfire codes - if it does turn out to be a driver issue, it would need a PCM

Thank you very much!

Something broke underneath my car.
Hello, without hearing the noise its hard to make a recommendation. If you hear a rattle sound it could be a loose bracket or loose bolt. If you are experiencing a clunking sound, you might have something loose in the...
it's turning over but not wanting to start.
Checking all the basics will usually locate the problem. You didn't mention whether you have verified good spark from the coil wire. Confirm that the plug wires are on right. That distributor turns clockwise, and the firing order is 1-6-5-4-3-2...
When turning, a clicking sound can be heard from the front of the vehicle
Hi, thanks for writing in. This can be caused by a couple of things. First, bad or worn outer CV joints can cause this. Does your car make the noise when turning both ways or just one way? If it...
My car crank but does not start.
Hi there. Check the camshaft position sensor (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/camshaft-position-sensor-replacement) and see if it has failed. Usually the engine will start and run with a partial failed camshaft sensor, however, when the sensor has failed completely and lost communication to the computer,...
I have a 06 Infiniti M45. The service engine light came on. Got the codes of p0420 and p0430. Wondering if I need to replace both O2 sensors.
Hi there. When the codes P0420 (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/p0420-obd-ii-trouble-code-catalyst-system-efficiency-below-threshold-bank-1-by-jamahl-walker) and P0430 (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/p0430-obd-ii-trouble-code-catalyst-system-efficiency-below-threshold-bank-2-by-spencer-clayton) come up, usually the catalytic converter has failed, but before you determine if you need to replace the catalytic converter, consider checking the following: A damaged or failed oxygen sensor...
Ok I want to know if I can put a sr20 from p11 wagon into a u12 bluebird with a ca20
Hi there. Sorry, but unfortunately, we don't service those types of vehicles. You might be better served to contact a local commercial or diesel mechanic to receive advice about this type of engine swap. Good luck.
Bmw 325xi 2004. There is no heat and the car overheats.
Hi there. For your vehicle to overheat and not have any heater heat in the cab, then the coolant could be low, the water pump could be not working, the radiator could be plugged up, or the thermostat could be...
What would cause a rattling/grinding sound from the front side of the motor in my 2005 Chevrolet Impala
Hello, Most of the time this is caused by an issue with one of the accessory pulleys. Most of the time it is the water pump due to an internal bearing failure. I usually pull the belt off and turn...
2002 vw jetta. Had a grinding noise rear back tire. Now when trying to reverse the back end highers but won't move
You may have been running brakes metal to metal and now that it has worn into the brake pad metal backing it may have come out of the bracket and binds up the brakes. You will need to raise car...
