Q: Codes p0131 p1456 p1738 for 2002 honda accord and srs light

asked by on February 19, 2018

Check engine light came on. These are the codes it gave us. Car has been sitting awhile before we bought it from an individual. Feeling like maybe we got hoodwinked.

My car has 182000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

Code P0138 and P1738 is problems with O2 sensors and would need to have the pinpoint tests done to narrow problem down to sensors or another problem. The last code P1456 is a leak in the fuel tank vapor system and may be a leaking gas cap or purge valve and would need further testing to locate leak. The SRS system needs to be scanned for codes and a generic scanner cannot access this system. Without the failure codes for this system we cannot help on this one.

What you are describing sounds like a failing CV joint (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/axle-cv-shaft-assembly-replacement). Car noise while accelerating.
Without hearing the noise you may have a problem in the transaxle or axles and bearings. I recommend having a mechanic like one from YourMechanic to test and drive the vehicle to diagnose the problem for you.
