Hi, my name is\*\*\*\*\* to justanswer. Lets see if we cant get you rolling again. So, is the car running ok, or does it just have a check engine light on? **During this conversation you will be given an automated offer for a phone call from justanswer, not me. You may accept or decline that offer. I don’t personally offer this service so if you take this another tech may call. Thank you\*\***

P2101-00 is a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) for "Throttle Actuator Control Motor Circuit Range/Performance". This can happen for multiple reasons and a mechanic needs to diagnose the specific cause for this code to be triggered in your situation. Most of the time this is related to a bad TAC system or throttle body. Code P2101 can be generated without an error on some vehicles if the accelerator pedal is pressed before turning on the key. A key recycle without touching the pedal may fix the problem even though the code is set in memory and the check engine light will be on and would need to be reset.

I have an Autel maxisys ms906 scanner so i can scan and reset etc I am pretty good with cars but this has me beatCan you explain the key cycle procedure please
Automotive Expert
Turn the key completely off and turn it back on without touching the gas pedal. Again, the most common failure with these little cars is that TAC assembly going bad.

Ok the key cycle has not worked What and where is the TAC unit as there is nothing i can find on this other then the throttle body itself which i have replaced
Automotive Expert
Basically it is your throttle body assembly. You can also try cleaning inside the throttle bore with carb and intake cleaner.

I have replaced The throttle body twice Just installed the new One And still nothingCould the acetate pedal switch be badIs there a learn procedure After the new throttle body has been installed
Automotive Expert
Have you checked the harness or connector for an open circuit or the connector is loose?

Connector is not looseNot sure the best way to test For an open circuit! How is this accomplished
Automotive Expert
Can you monitor throttle position with your scan tool while pushing on the gas pedal?

There are various readings and some seem to be correct and also change from 0% to 100% when the pedal is pushed However there is one reading that doesn't change I think it's the desired position and it stays around 22%
Automotive Expert
Have you also tried cleaning the MAF sensor?

I am really stumped Normally i can trace these things lol
Automotive Expert
This may be of some interest:[http://www.csmans.com/throttle\_idle\_learn-2502.html](http://www.csmans.com/throttle_idle_learn-2502.html)

I can not get the car to 1- idle correctly 2- turn off the reduced power
Automotive Expert
Have you checked for vacuum leaks?

I have smoked the system with a smoke machine No leaksLet me see if i am able to reset all values back to zero on the scanner
Automotive Expert
It might come down to a bad ECM.

That's what I'm actually thinkingIs there a way to confirm that it is a bad ECM
Automotive Expert
The only other thing you can do is check for continuity on the circuits from the TAC to the ECM

i dont have a wiring diagram

Automotive Expert
Do you know if that is a VIN G or VIN H 1.8L motor. Look at 8th VIN digit.

This should help

Thank you for that link It will def help me Trace it Should they all have 12v+ on when the ignition is on Other than the 5V referenceAre you seeing the pictures
Automotive Expert
What I would do is a continuity test with a volt meter. You will need to get to each end of the circuit from throttle body to ecm. Set your meter on the little speaker looking symbol. You can also check for battery voltage.

Ok I will do that I also have a Power probe i can use for that too
Automotive Expert
Sounds good, and best of luck.

Customer attachment 1/8/2021 1:47:09 AM

if i get one of the wires with no continuity then that wire is bad correct?if all wires are good then would that indicate it's the ecm
Automotive Expert
If you have replaced the throttle body, there must be something else going on.

Either a bad wire or bad ECM
Automotive Expert
Correct

The driver of the car said it was running fine Shut the car off when she got home that evening and then this happened the next day when she went to start the carDid not happen while driving
Automotive Expert
Electronic failures are not picking when they happen.

No sir they do not Nor do they discriminate lol
Automotive Expert
LOL. You got that right!

Amd the harder thing to find
Automotive Expert
If it was easy, everybody would do it. Besides it gives you a chance to one up your skills.

sir you are correct there I do this as a hobby but still have more tools including specialty tools than most mechanics lmaoThis is my tools box lol
