Q: 2002 Mercedes won't start

When I turn the key forward it just turns but will not start it did that once before but I put my foot on the gas a couple of times and it started up but when I turn the key forward I hear the fuel pump in the back clicking on could it be my fuel filter?

My car has 118000 miles.
