Q: 2014 Ford F150 getting system starter fault.

asked by on November 13, 2017

My truck, Ford F150 (2014) will not start. Last week, the truck was running fine, but the key fob wouldn't open the doors/remote start wouldn't work and the AC/Heat wasn't working either. The truck was just blowing air. We let it sit for a few days. Tried the key fob again and it worked, but when we try to start the engine, the truck won't start. There is no clicking... the lights come on, radio comes on, and air blows, but the truck won't start. We are getting a "Starter System Fault" error. We were told to run a Health Report to see what the diagnostics are- but we can't run that unless the engine is running.

My car has 40000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

This is a known issue with this generation Ford F-150 and your truck may have open recalls. Often times, this issue is related to the shift selection range sensor, which may also cause other problems related to the backup camera and reverse lights not coming on when the truck is placed into reverse. I would suggest contacting your local Ford dealership to determine if this is something that may be covered under an open recall.

Rear power window not working

If the window is not working at all, the switch, wiring, or motor is likely bad. I would recommend having your window system inspected by a professional. This inspection will consist of looking up the wiring diagram for the window...

If the problem started literally upon start up after installing new plugs I would first suspect a problem with the plugs, or something was damaged during the work or something is not properly connected. Of course, coincidences are possible, such...

I need the location of the cylinder head sensor to replace on my 2012 Ford Mustang because of my P1299 code

Hello. The P1299 code does not mean that you need the cylinder head temperature sensor. The sensor only detects temperature and will not affect how the engine is overheating. The fact that you are getting this code is because you...

How do you use the speed control system?

The speed control system on your vehicle is the same thing as what other manufacturers call a cruise control system. It allows you to choose a speed you want to cruise at, set the system and then relax a little...

Car won't start but when attempting to start it makes a repetitive "pop" sound.

Hi there. What could be happening is the engine has either a large vacuum leak or the timing chain has skipped a tooth making a camshaft out of adjustment. First look all over the engine for any possible vacuum leaks,...
