My car would start last week because of no power so I jump-started it, drove it to Walmart and bought a new battery (old battery was more than 3 years old). After not using the car again for at least a week, car won't start again (no power). I think it may be the alternator and I got a quote for alternator repair/replacement. Question: will the mechanic diagnose first and confirm the problem first before installing the new alternator? Will the quote change?
My car has an automatic transmission.
