Hello! I can’t really stand this now. Im from Sweden and I drive an AUDI SQ5 TDI The problem I have seems like even Audi can fix it Mechanic's Assistant: What year is your SQ5? It’s a 2014 Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your SQ5 yourself? What have you tried so far? They just changed the transmission because they thought it was the problem with rough shifting of the transmission. It’s shifting crazy sometimes Coming down from a hill in first gear when it shifts to D2 the whole car feels like it’s about to break because of the shake Mechanic's Assistant: How old is the transmission? Have you noticed any leaking? The transmission is brand new from Germany Audi No leaks The only thing I have started noticing is that it smells glychol in the car after some time of driving Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the Mechanic to know before I connect you? That I have a p050100 fault code aswell, thanks.

Hello Pete! My name is Sermend!
Automotive Expert
Hello Sermend. Nice to hear from you today! I'm sorry to hear you are having this problem. I know this can be frustrating. Is the fault code P050100 still coming up with this issue?

basically Audi just changed the transmission of my car, a brand new one from Germany. It’s a TipTronic SQ5 TDI 313 HP vehicle. Before coming to a standstill, the car jerks. I’ve a video aswell as how it behaves when the car is coldstart and driving while it’s cold weather here in Sweden.I’ve not gotten it yet
Automotive Expert
Thank you for that information! Is the fault code P050100 still coming up with this issue?

I’ve not seen it come up no
Automotive Expert
If you have a link to the video you can send me so I can view it this will help. If not let me know and we can still continue here.

File attached (Z51Z52L)

There is a videoEverybody says it’s the converter, I went to Audi and asked if it’s been changed and they said yes, it’s a part of the transmission.
Automotive Expert
Thank you for your reply and that information as this does help me better understand the situation. Please give me one moment to type out some info for you. I’ll be right back!

No problem! Great!
Automotive Expert
Thank you for holding Sermend! Thanks for the video as that did help. If the converter came new with the replacement transmission then I do not suspect it is the converter itself at fault. Based on the video you showed me this looks to be an electrical issue. The transmission computer looks to be shifting or locking up the converter in and out on its own. This can be due to a wiring fault leading from the transmission computer to the transmission itself with a wire being broken, shorted, or damaged that has to be repaired to resolve this issue or a fault with the transmission computer itself. I recommend having the wiring checked for any issues. If a wiring fault is found it will need to be repaired. If no wiring issues are found and before the transmission computer is replaced I recommend having the wheel speed sensor signals checked. If there is a faulty wheel speed sensor that will also cause this issue and the faulty wheel speed sensor will have to be replaced. If those are all found to be o.k. then I recommend that the transmission computer is replaced to correct this issue.

Here is the faultcode coming up and the car goes on limpmode.
Automotive Expert
Thank you for that information! I posted an answer to your question above. If it did not come through or if you need anything else with your question let me know so we can continue!

Allright sir, thank you very much for that information!

some more questions!Sometimes the car shifts very early and sometimes very late. When it shifts early and I want to push the car abit the response is really bad. It takes maybe a second and a half for it to respond. And then the car vibrates abit. Its around 1000-1100 RPM
Automotive Expert
The shifting issue can also be caused by the wiring at fault leading from the transmission or an issue with the transmission computer itself. Those will have to be checked into to identify the cause so it can be repaired properly.

Do you know what procedure u have to take to controll if the transmission computer is bad? We can check the wiring and stuff like that but the transmission, do we need some kind of VCDS to plug in into the transmission computer and drive to see live data?
Automotive Expert
In order to determine that the transmission computer is faulty, you would need to check the wiring first for any issues. If the wiring is o.k. then a VCDS is needed to monitor the vehicle's wheel speed sensors to see if one or more speed sensors are faulty. If a faulty sensor is found it will need to be replaced. If the wiring and speed sensors are o.k. then the computer has to be replaced. When it is replaced a dealer will need to program the new replacement while it is in your vehicle in order for it to operate properly. This can cost over $500 in some cases to have it replaced at a dealer.

Pete, I really appriciate your time for this information.
Automotive Expert
You're most welcome!

If I have any more questions, can I talk to you again?BtwI have one more video i want to show you!
Automotive Expert

This was one hour ago! Here is a upphill im driving on. See the RPM of the car and maybe this can give u more clue

Here it is!
Automotive Expert
Thank you for that video! This can still indicate a fault with the transmission wiring or the computer itself. The wiring or computer acting up can cause all of the issues your experiencing. They do need to be checked into to help identify the fault.

Thank you very much, sir! You are the golden man! I’ll be looking more into this and if the problem still doesn’t go away I will give a message again! Untill then, Merry christmas to you and I hope you get a happy new year and many more beautiful years to come! Thank you very much Pete!
Automotive Expert
Your most welcome and Happy Holidays to you as well!

Hello again, Pete! We checked the wiring and put in VCDS and controlled the wheel speed, everything seems to be in order but we found a faultcode that keeps coming back. The fault code is P199E. That faultcode, does it have a connection with the problem we talked about?
Automotive Expert
Hello again. This fault code looks like it is for the thermostat. This would be the engine cooling thermostat that is failing and has to be replaced.

Can this have a connection to the problem we wrote about before about the transmission?
Automotive Expert
Yes, it can because if the thermostat is operating incorrectly it will cause issues with the way the transmission and other components operate.

Because one technician is telling me that it is the EGR at faulty. And the part cannot be bought seperatly, but needs to be the whole unit.
Automotive Expert
The code that is coming up is related to the thermostat itself failing. I am not seeing an issue with the EGR myself from here. I recommend to have the thermostat replaced and then the fault code cleared out to see if any issues return.

Hello again, Pete! Problems keep coming up i’m soon getting crazy! Now it smells way to much glychol and coolant/fluid in the car. People keep opening the windows and getting really irritated about the smell and start to feel dizy and somehow ”hard to breath.” The problem has still not been resolved and I have an appointment 18th january...
Automotive Expert
Hello again. If you have a smell like that getting into your vehicle I recommend to not drive it any further until it is repaired. That sounds like a coolant leak from the heater core or engine area causing the smell to come in. The leak has to be located and repaired to resolve this issue. It is a good idea to not breathe in the chemicals until you can have it repaired.

The people are telling it has to do with the P199E faulty code. Correct?
Automotive Expert
That could be correct. Especially if the thermostat housing is leaking.

Is this normal?
Automotive Expert
It isn’t something that should occur but it can occur. The best thing to do is to have it checked over for the leak so it can be repaired properly.

I understand! Audi says this is normal and there is no problem with the car... I have a really big despuite with the right now. What should I do?

There’s no problems at all with the car Audi says, and i’m slowly loosing my patience... Is there anything you can say that can come to use?
Automotive Expert
If the Audi dealer will not look into and repair the issue then the only thing you can do from there is to contact Audi customer support and explain the issue to see if they will contact the dealer to have it looked into and repaired. You should be able to contact them using the link below. [https://www.audi.com/en/contact.html](https://www.audi.com/en/contact.html)
