Q: Nissan Xterra

asked by on

Can any mechanic tell me what year / or if Nissan fixed the problem of leaking coolant on the Xterra's? I would like to buy one, but have read horror stories about 2005 and maybe 2006 models.
My car has an automatic transmission.

Hi there:

There were some radiator thermostat housing problems common with 2003 to 2007 Nissan SUV’s and trucks that wore out prematurely and caused excessive coolant leaks; and potentially overheating problems. However, it’s likely that any problems of that sort have been replaced on a Nissan you plan to purchase.
