2013 Nissan Altima died at stop sign last night. Thought it was the battery because we had to jump it the other day. We jumped again this time and it died when we put in drive. Jumped it another time and got it home. Car will now start, but when it is put into gear, it dies.

Hi Kristie. Thanks for contacting us today. Typically when you put the car in gear and it stalls, it’s caused by a fuel delivery problem; usually, a defective fuel pump, dirty fuel filters or a fuel filter installed backward in some instances. It could also be an ignition system fault, either the rotor in the distributor is worn out, or plugs/plug wires having issues. It might be worth it for you to have one of our professional mobile mechanics come to your location and complete a car starts then stalls inspection, so they can pinpoint the source of this issue and complete the right repairs.

The statements expressed above are only for informational purposes and should be independently verified. Please see our terms of service for more details

Have full power steering and car still makes whining noise when I turn the wheel. Just got the car like 6 months ago.
If you are getting a whining noise from the power steering then the noise may be from the power steering pump internal vanes which are worn (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/symptoms-of-a-bad-or-failing-power-steering-pump). This will cause the pump to not apply enough pressure at low vehicle...

On the Downhill Assist Control system, is it supposed to be noisy while in use? 2011 Kia Sorrento
Hello - the Downhill Assist Control (DAC) (https://www.yourmechanic.com/question/what-does-the-downhill-assist-control-system-do) uses engine compression (without ignition) to provide "braking" without heating up the brakes on a long descent. This makes a somewhat "unnatural" sound much like you describe from the exhaust. It is...
