How do I check the coolant level?
It’s a good idea to occasionally check the coolant level. To do so, pop the hood, and locate the coolant reservoir. This reservoir should have two lines labeled Cold Fill Range. The coolant level should rest between those two lines....
Idling problems and difficult startup
There are many different items that can cause the vehicle to idle poorly. The most common would be the spark plugs (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/spark-plugs-replacement) and wires, MAF sensor (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/mass-airflow-sensor-replacement), vacuum leak, IAC valve (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/idle-control-valve-replacement), exhaust leak, or oxygen sensor failure (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/oxygen-sensor-replacement). My truck won't shift out of first gear.
This may be a sign of low transmission fluid (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/transmission-fluid-service) or a faulty transmission control solenoid. As you know, automatic transmissions use pressurized hydraulic fluid to change gears. Every time a gear change is required, the car's computer activates a...
Have a Ford F150 (2013) w/EcoBoost. Check Engine Light on with error code P05410. Can't find that code
Hi There, Code P0510 relates to the computer detecting an incorrect position in the throttle plate relative to the position of the throttle according to the computer, which gauges this throttle position (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/throttle-position-sensor-replacement) according to differences in signal voltage. When...
Temperature gauge goes up and down
You're probably low on coolant. Filling the reservoir doesn't really do the trick for filling the cooling system. There is probably air trapped in the cooling system that needs to be bled out. You may be able to do it...
